Ireland photos and stories

hello! So. ireland.
I met a bunch of REALLY great people.
and spent time with my friend, Melissa

Photobucket
pictured here with me. haha <3

Me, Skye, Ash, Cass, and Lindsay

Here's me with Caroline, Bree, Amber and Melissa
we're cute.

Dublin at night. So pretty.
I think i was significantly drunk when I took this.

Then Melissa and I took a Paddywagon tour. Three days southern Ireland. It was really amazing. I totally recommend it.

At Clonmacnoise, which was our first stop, we saw amazing ancient graves and celtic crosses

they think that the crosses used to be color. but the paint or whatever they used has been weathered away.

The first night we stayed in Galway (Search the song "Galway Girl" by Mundy. I heard it about 50 times in a week) Galway is a gorgeous sea-side city. Party capital of the country! I got nice and drunk. Not as drunk as Paul, a New Zealand guy who was on our tour. I think his first words the next morning were "ohh... shit" haha. Or something to that extent. Sounds like my last night... but that's a different story =].

Photobucket
The sea in Galway. beautiful.

Big Joe, our tour guide was just marvelous. He told us so many stories, and just joked around with us. Told us about the "Famine Walls" the walls all around the country that the people of Ireland were forced by the English (sorry everyone!) to make during the Famine so they could get food.

Photobucket
Here's a famine wall in the fog.

We visited a wishing well. You have to stand on a raised stone, make a wish and throw a penny behind your head, and hope you get it in the well, if you do, you get your wish. if you don't... well tough! =]

Photobucket
Here's the well, and the raised stone. Where I wished for.... well... that's a secret, isn't it? ;)

we went to The Burren, which was a view of limestone wherever you went. Beautiful.
Here's me, conquering The Burren.

We went to the cliffs of Moher, which were the Cliffs of Insanity in The Princess Bride!! and the cliffs where Dumbledore and Harry go to find the first (and false) Horcrux in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Photobucket
It was sadly VERY foggy. But I got a few shots.

We stayed in Killarney the next night, Melissa and I went to bed early. I had been partying since the saturday night, and this was now Thursday. haha.

We went to kiss the Blarney stone, which was said to give the kisser the gift of eloquence or "blarney" the gift of gab.

Photobucket
Blarney castle.

oh. and did I mention that to kiss the stone you have to lean backwards off the edge of the castle (SEE HOW BIG IT IS!?) and kiss the stone. An irish man has you around the waist as you're laying on your back, leaning off the side of the castle.. holding you up. sooo scary. but awesome fun.

Photobucket
Here's Paul. he looks headless.

Photobucket
and me. =] I had already kissed the stone and was being pulled back up when Melissa snapped it.

There were gardens around Blarney castle.

Photobucket
here's Melissa holding up a very large rock. =]

Photobucket
Aaaand here's me walking backwards down a flight of very unsafe stairs. They were wishing stairs, and that's what you do... apparently. She could have been making it up. Paul looked at me like I was totally mad. haha. I look very squat here. I'm not actually THAT short. it's the angle. i swear!

Photobucket
There was a cave under a tree, where it's said a Witch is trapped inside a stone. The cave is called The Witch's Kitchen.

We went to the ruins of a castle, called the Rock of Dunamase.
I liked to claim Castles as my own when I was in them. haha
Photobucket
part of the ruins. it was MASSIVE.

Photobucket
Aaand "MY CASTLE!"

Photobucket
The ruins and the land behind. Just wonderful.

And then we went back to Dublin and I got "puke my face off" drunk.
where this was the quote of the night
"I'm really sorry guys! But I just puked EVERYWHERE! And... by 'everywhere' I mean I made it to the toilet!" Thumbs up.

Yeah... well done me. I was grumpy and hungover on the plane the next day, I argued with a stewardess... but maybe that's a story for a different post? =] Enjoy all.
