Hi

Hello all.
I'm coming home for Christmas.

I'll be returning to Europe later on. Maybe not for a while... but I will be back.

Update!

Hello! Long time no talk, so here's an update on everything.
Hadleigh is boring, so I'm leaving.
I'm going up to London, to look for live-in work. Hostel work I'm thinking, or some live-in pub work. Either way, living and working in London.

This weekend I have my interview to get my british passport, and I'm 99% sure i'm getting it. And then I'll receive the actual passport in a week or so, and then LONDON BABY.

Then I'll work until around April, when Levi will come and see me =]
and then homeward bound!
(what a good movie. I love the cat, Sassy.)

Got myself a job today. Working in a Cafe. It'll be good enough for now, until I find something better. This means I can start saving up for going to Germany and Poland in January. Yay!!

Hangover+grumpy stewardess+josalyne= bad times

So. The stewardess.

Okay, so I flew with Ryanair, and they're great if all you want to wear on your flight is the same pair of jeans and t shirt for a week. If you want to bring a check in bag, it's 30 quid. it's sick. But my flight was 30 quid for there and back to ireland. So I took it, and took a carry on bag with EVERYTHING I needed for a week.

So after my trip, my bag is kinda full of souvenirs, and is a big round, but I knew it wasn't TOO big.

So Ryanair are assholes, and if your bag is over sized or weight you have to pay 30 quid or 25 euros. And I didn't have it. I lost the last bit of my money when I was drunk the night before. Well done me.

So they check my boarding pass, and i try to be all sneaky and walk on by, but this stewardess tells me I have to put my bag in this metal frame so it can be sized. It fit, but it has these little feet, and they got in the way of it getting right into the frame. And she was all "25 Euro. Credit card or cash" and I told her I didn't have it, and if she would just look, she would see it would fit it the little feet weren't there. and she said "Credit card or cash". So now I was pissed off. And a bit drunk still from the night before. I told her I didn't have 25 Euro. and she said: "Credit card or cash" and i told her once again I didn't have it. and she said "it's too big to go on the plane. 25 Euro. Credit card or cash" so I turned to her and said "WHY DOES ME PAYING YOU MAGICALLY MAKE IT SMALLER? DO YOU HAVE A MAGIC SHRINKING POTION ON THE PLANE?!" yeah... way to be, me.

So this guy walks up, grabs ahold of my bag, and gives it a good shove into the frame and it falls into the frame and he yells: "see!? it fits!!" My hero!!

the stewardess gave me an EVIL look, and I went onto the plane.

She offered me a drink later, on the flight. I politely refused. Scared she'd have spit in it.

So. a few things to remember:
1.random strangers can be your hero
2."Credit card or cash"
3.being hungover + grumpy stewardesses can lead to yelling things about magic shrinking potions.

Ireland photos and stories

hello! So. ireland.
I met a bunch of REALLY great people.
and spent time with my friend, Melissa

Photobucket
pictured here with me. haha <3

Photobucket
Me, Skye, Ash, Cass, and Lindsay

Photobucket
Here's me with Caroline, Bree, Amber and Melissa
we're cute.

Photobucket
Dublin at night. So pretty.
I think i was significantly drunk when I took this.

Photobucket
Then Melissa and I took a Paddywagon tour. Three days southern Ireland. It was really amazing. I totally recommend it.

At Clonmacnoise, which was our first stop, we saw amazing ancient graves and celtic crosses
Photobucket

Photobucket
they think that the crosses used to be color. but the paint or whatever they used has been weathered away.

The first night we stayed in Galway (Search the song "Galway Girl" by Mundy. I heard it about 50 times in a week) Galway is a gorgeous sea-side city. Party capital of the country! I got nice and drunk. Not as drunk as Paul, a New Zealand guy who was on our tour. I think his first words the next morning were "ohh... shit" haha. Or something to that extent. Sounds like my last night... but that's a different story =].

Photobucket
The sea in Galway. beautiful.

Big Joe, our tour guide was just marvelous. He told us so many stories, and just joked around with us. Told us about the "Famine Walls" the walls all around the country that the people of Ireland were forced by the English (sorry everyone!) to make during the Famine so they could get food.

Photobucket
Here's a famine wall in the fog.

We visited a wishing well. You have to stand on a raised stone, make a wish and throw a penny behind your head, and hope you get it in the well, if you do, you get your wish. if you don't... well tough! =]

Photobucket
Here's the well, and the raised stone. Where I wished for.... well... that's a secret, isn't it? ;)

we went to The Burren, which was a view of limestone wherever you went. Beautiful.
Here's me, conquering The Burren.
Photobucket

We went to the cliffs of Moher, which were the Cliffs of Insanity in The Princess Bride!! and the cliffs where Dumbledore and Harry go to find the first (and false) Horcrux in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Photobucket
It was sadly VERY foggy. But I got a few shots.

We stayed in Killarney the next night, Melissa and I went to bed early. I had been partying since the saturday night, and this was now Thursday. haha.

We went to kiss the Blarney stone, which was said to give the kisser the gift of eloquence or "blarney" the gift of gab.

Photobucket
Blarney castle.

oh. and did I mention that to kiss the stone you have to lean backwards off the edge of the castle (SEE HOW BIG IT IS!?) and kiss the stone. An irish man has you around the waist as you're laying on your back, leaning off the side of the castle.. holding you up. sooo scary. but awesome fun.

Photobucket
Here's Paul. he looks headless.

Photobucket
and me. =] I had already kissed the stone and was being pulled back up when Melissa snapped it.

There were gardens around Blarney castle.

Photobucket
here's Melissa holding up a very large rock. =]

Photobucket
Aaaand here's me walking backwards down a flight of very unsafe stairs. They were wishing stairs, and that's what you do... apparently. She could have been making it up. Paul looked at me like I was totally mad. haha. I look very squat here. I'm not actually THAT short. it's the angle. i swear!

Photobucket
There was a cave under a tree, where it's said a Witch is trapped inside a stone. The cave is called The Witch's Kitchen.

We went to the ruins of a castle, called the Rock of Dunamase.
I liked to claim Castles as my own when I was in them. haha
Photobucket
part of the ruins. it was MASSIVE.

Photobucket
Aaand "MY CASTLE!"

Photobucket
The ruins and the land behind. Just wonderful.

And then we went back to Dublin and I got "puke my face off" drunk.
where this was the quote of the night
"I'm really sorry guys! But I just puked EVERYWHERE! And... by 'everywhere' I mean I made it to the toilet!" Thumbs up.

Yeah... well done me. I was grumpy and hungover on the plane the next day, I argued with a stewardess... but maybe that's a story for a different post? =] Enjoy all.

Oh yes.

Hiya.

Off to Ireland from October 10th to the 17th.

Should be a good time.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

So yesterday I went to the sea, with Stacey and Bernie. Clacton on sea. To the pier, to play some games.
on the 2p machines I won some key rings and a plastic elephant, he is now my Clacton elephant.
it was really nice, i had great food (REAL fish and chips, and a WHIPPY WITH A FLAKE. BE JEALOUS) and generally had a really good time, we fed our chips to little birds, and I yelled at a couple pigeons.
It was a nice, relaxing day. Until we headed home. Or at least... tried to.

We got lost on the country roads, we were trying to find Hadleigh, but for some reason couldn't. We got TO the sea fine, but going back was just beyond us. We ended up in a place called Dedham twice. How? I have no idea, a vortex or something must have opened up! And then we found Boxted, the GHOST TOWN i dubbed it, because it didn't exist on our map! hahah

We passed lik 12 churches called St. Mary's, and I asked why she got all of the churches, why not any of the other saints? and Stace replied with "Mary was a greedy cow!" I replied with "New church? DIBS! DIBS! IT'S MINE. MARY'S!"

"But Mary! You get ALL the churches? What about St Jude? Doesn't he deserve one?"

"NO! I CALLED IT!"

You know me, blasphemous as always. So we continued to make Mary jokes, we passed a town called St Mary's something, and made jokes about how now she has a WHOLE TOWN.

It was too funny, bernie was navigating, and stacey was turning the wrong way, the complete opposite way we wanted to go, we ended up on the same stretch of hi way that we took to get TO the sea, instead of where we wanted to go... which was AWAY from the sea.

Finally, we find Hadleigh, where after all of that we HAD to stop for a pint. I love that about england, if you order alcohol early in the afternoon, no one looks at you funny.

Anywho, that was my day yesterday. =]

flights con't

Alright, let's continue on.

Iceland went by in a flash, I went through customs, knowing I had to be on the plane in a very short time, it was cutting really close and yet I STILL got distracted by giftshops...
So after going in and looking at shot glasses and mittens it clicked that I HAD TO LEAVE. Silly me. So really there wasn't enough time for the polar bears to get me. bahaha

The flight to England from Iceland was about 2.5 hours.

OH! On the way to Iceland I sat between a Swedish lady and a Canadian Lady who lived in Sweden, and had a really great time talking to both of them. They were really nice. And I ended up in line with the Canadian turned Swedish lady and we chatted until separated after security. Made that 6 hour flight nice. =]

So I get to London... Heathrow... good lord. Follow the crowds! works wonders. Once i got to customs I had to explain why I only had a one way ticket, I was warned I might get hassled, but I showed my birth certificate stating that my parents were both born in England, and all was well, the lady just had to call my dad and clear some things up.

Drive back to my dad's took around 2.5 hours... so by the end I was really tired. But I knew if I went to bed at 3 pm I would never get over jet lag... I passed out just before 9 that night. Up for abour 27 hours? I think I did the math right.

First day was a lazy day, my Nan came to visit, and I just spent time with my family.
actually... the first couple of days were lazy, yesterday was the first time i did something.
I went to colchester, went charity shopping, got jeans and a vintage canon camera!! A Canon AE-1. google it. =]

I woke up today and no one is here... It's almost 3 pm and I'm still in my pajamas. =P
It was raining, but now it's cleared up and I'm going to get dressed and go play with my camera.

I really hope I don't get lost... =]

tiiiiiired

I am tired, I have to call my mum, and I just don't have the energy to write,
but I'll update with the complete adventure of my flight(s) asap.
<3
I wrote this on Word while waiting in Toronto:

I can’t seem to get an internet connection, so I’m going to post this later.
Toronto airport was surprisingly easy to navigate through, the flight wasn’t bad, except for the annoying man who sat behind me, the poor lady he was sitting next to, he regaled his life story to her, about his girlfriend, his favorite hockey team, his uncle in Edmonton… blah blah blah.
He was annoying, and he kept kicking the back of my seat.

I had an emotional moment at the beginning of it all, I was crying slightly in my seat, one pf the stewards asked me if I was okay, nice man.

Looks like my flight is about to board… oh no wait. just certain people.

I keep having this feeling that I forgot something vital, I don’t think I did, but who knows with me.

I got to Toronto, and navigated my way through the place, got confused once and had to ask where to go, the man at the customer service counter told me that he liked my ohm, and pointed me in the right direction. We are now friends. Whether or not he knows it. =]

Still… dreading the polar bears.

This place is all glass, I’ll post a photo later.

It’s getting dark… moving forward in time is CRAZY SHIT!

I need coffee… not enough time.

Well… there’s my rambling. Gotta go.

My flight is coming up sooner than I realized it was.

Said goodbye to my friends today, sad...

I love you all.

GRAH

I am so scared I'm going to mess up my flights. Miss my flight, get lost in the airport, lose luggage, forget something, get stranded in Toronto, or Iceland. I had a dream last night I was stranded in Iceland, a polar bear got me, which is completely irrational, Iceland is the GREEN one. Greenland is the icy one. UGH. I don't even know if Greenland has polar bears. Why would they name them that way? To give me nightmares.

Photobucket
here's the airport. Small enough in size, looks easy enough to maneuver, but no matter how irrational, my mind keeps making me think there's polar bears lurking. Like this.
Photobucket

I just got off the phone with my mother, I had been texting her, saying that I have no luggage, and no money to buy it with. She walked me through the process of the airports, telling me to "just ask someone" where to go, what to do. And, knowing me as well as she does she says "I know you hate doing that, but just do it!" Sigh.

I'll be fine, I know. But I'm a nervous person. And I get like this about change. Bleh.

I leave Edmonton at 1: 15 PM, arrive in Toronto at 6:50 PM, leave Toronto for Iceland at 9:10 PM. I arrive at 6:25 AM, leave at 7:40 AM, and then I finally arrive in London at 11:45 AM. What a trip.
